UNILAG DLI Organizes Fire Prevention and Safety Awareness Lecture for Staff and Occupants
The Distance Learning Institute (DLI), University of Lagos (UNILAG), has conducted a comprehensive Fire Prevention and Safety Awareness Lecture to bolster emergency preparedness within the academic community.
The session, facilitated by the University of Lagos Fire Services Unit, was held yesterday at the Institute. It served as a proactive response to the need for heightened safety vigilance in high-occupancy university buildings.
The training was designed to equip staff and occupants with technical and practical life-saving skills, focusing on:
Proactive Prevention: Identifying potential fire hazards within office and learning environments.
Early Detection & Equipment: Practical demonstrations on the proper use of various firefighting tools and detection systems.
Emergency Response: Establishing clear protocols for swift and safe evacuation procedures during an outbreak.
By hosting this initiative, DLI reinforces the University’s broader mandate to prioritize the safety and well-being of its community. Participants gained hands-on insights into managing emergency situations, ensuring that the Institute remains a secure environment for both administrative and academic activities.
The University continues to encourage all units to engage in continuous safety awareness to minimize risks and enhance institutional resilience against fire emergencies.
