UNILAG, GAC Motors Nigeria Initiate Talks on Strategic Collaboration

The University of Lagos has opened discussions with GAC Motors Nigeria on a potential partnership to create exchange programmes, technical internships, and specialised training aimed at boosting students’ employment prospects in Chinese-owned enterprises in Nigeria.

At a meeting held on Friday, August 8, 2025, in the Vice-Chancellor’s 11th Floor office, the GAC delegation, led by Chairman/CEO Chief Diana Chen, outlined proposed areas of collaboration, which include:
- Lecturer and student exchanges
- Technical internships
- Engineering and industrial design education in China

Chief Chen praised the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and expressed optimism for a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, OON, welcomed the team and reaffirmed UNILAG’s commitment to building global partnerships that strengthen academic excellence and international visibility. She assured the visitors of the university’s readiness to harness the opportunities the collaboration would provide.

The talks mark a step towards giving UNILAG students greater access to international industry exposure, practical training, and career pathways that bridge classroom learning with real-world demands.
