UNIMAID Postpones E-Exams Indefinitely Amid Non-Teaching Staff Strike

The management of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has announced the immediate postponement of its ongoing electronic examinations (e-exams).

This decision follows the nationwide industrial action by non-teaching staff unions that has paralyzed administrative and academic support services across federal universities.

In an internal memorandum dated May 4, 2026, the Coordinator of the Examinations and Time-Table Unit, Prof. Dani Mamman, officially notified the Coordinator of E-Exams of the suspension. The directive states that all scheduled e-exams will be rescheduled until the current strike action is suspended.

The disruption at UNIMAID is part of a broader "total shutdown" of public universities across Nigeria led by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU). The strike, which commenced on May 1, 2026, was triggered by the Federal Government's failure to conclude the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement regarding staff welfare and salary adjustments.
