UNIMAID Vice-Chancellor Issues Christmas Message, Calls for Peace and Unity
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has extended warm felicitations to the institution's Christian community on the joyous occasion of the 2025 Christmas celebration.
In a press release issued on Thursday, December 25, 2025, Professor Mele encouraged all members of the university community to use the sacred season—observed in remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ—as a time to pray for sustained peace, unity, and harmony within both the university and the nation at large.
The Vice-Chancellor specifically called on staff and students to uphold the enduring Christian virtues of love, patience, tolerance, humility, and peaceful coexistence, which he described as essential for collective progress and mutual understanding within the diverse Sahelian environment of North-Eastern Nigeria.
Professor Mele expressed his profound appreciation to the entire university community—including the Governing Council, Senate, management committee, staff, and students—for their unwavering dedication, cooperation, and support in advancing the mission and vision of the institution throughout the year.
As 2025 draws to a close, the Vice-Chancellor offered prayers for renewed strength, wisdom, guidance, and protection for all members of the community in the coming year, concluding his message with wishes for a "Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year."
