UNIMEDTH Conducts Promotion Interview for 733 Staff, reinforcing Commitment to Staff Welfare and Institute Excellence
The University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Laje, Ondo, has successfully concluded its 2026 promotion interview exercise for 733 eligible staff members across various professional cadres, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, accountants, administrative personnel, health attendants, and other categories of workers. The exercise, which lasted five days, reflects the institution's commitment to rewarding hard work, dedication, and years of meritorious service.
Speaking on the exercise, the Acting Director of Administration, Mr. Lawrence Sabejeje, commended the management of the hospital for providing an enabling environment that ensured the smooth conduct of the promotion interviews without disrupting healthcare services. He noted that the exercise followed the approval granted by the Executive Governor of Ondo State for the promotion of eligible public servants across the state.
Mr. Sabejeje described promotion as a vital component of workforce development, emphasizing that it serves as a major morale booster for employees and provides opportunities for career progression. According to him, regular promotion exercises encourage dedication, improve job satisfaction, and help retain skilled personnel within the healthcare system, thereby reducing the impact of brain drain in the country.

He further explained that promotion is a practical way of appreciating the commitment and sacrifices of workers. Beyond increased earnings and improved welfare, promoted staff are motivated to contribute more effectively to service delivery. He stressed that a happy and motivated workforce is essential to achieving the hospital's vision of excellence in healthcare delivery, medical training, and research.
The successful completion of the exercise is expected to strengthen staff commitment, enhance productivity, and improve the quality of healthcare services provided to patients. It also aligns with the hospital's dedication to staff well-being and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals through quality healthcare services and human capital development.
