UNIPORT VC Reaffirms Support for SUG Initiatives, Academic Excellence

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Prof. Chike Princewill, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives of the Student Union Government (SUG) aimed at promoting academic excellence and the overall advancement of students in the university.

Prof. Princewill gave the assurance on Monday, August 17, 2026, when students of the university visited him as part of activities marking the commencement of the SUG Week celebration.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the students for their enthusiasm and collective participation in the SUG Week activities, noting the importance of a vibrant student community in fostering a conducive academic environment.

He reaffirmed the administration’s readiness to work closely with the SUG and other student bodies in addressing issues that would contribute to students’ academic and personal development.

Prof. Princewill further expressed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support for programmes and initiatives that advance learning, innovation and student welfare.

He also encouraged the students to remain focused on their studies and contribute positively to the growth and development of the university.
