University of Abuja Promotes 45 Academic Staff to Professorial Rank

The University of Abuja has promoted 45 academic staff to professorial rank, pending ratification by the Council. The promotion was announced by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Manko Lar, at the 188th Regular Senate meeting held on April 8, 2025.

The promotion includes 20 staff members who were elevated to the rank of Professor and 25 others who were promoted to the rank of Associate Professor. The promoted staff members are from various disciplines, including Geography and Atmospheric Sciences, Social Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Management Sciences, Education, Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Arts.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor congratulated the newly promoted staff, describing them as hardworking academics committed to advancing knowledge in their fields. She emphasized that the promotions reflect the university's commitment to academic development and staff progress.

The promotions were approved by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 11th Governing Council, Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, pending ratification by the Council. The Acting Vice-Chancellor noted that the promotions are a well-deserved recognition of the staff members' dedication, resilience, and hard work.
