University of Ilorin 500-level Student Aminu Habeeb Wins 2025 World Cancer Day Competition

A 500-level student in the Department of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ilorin, Aminu Habeeb, has emerged as the winner of the 2025 World Cancer Day Competition.

The event was organized by the Kwara State Ministry of Health in partnership with the Office of the First Lady of Kwara State.

Aminu, who serves as the Students' Union Welfare Secretary for the College of Health Sciences, represented the University of Ilorin at the "Conquer Cancer School Challenge" competition. He excelled in the competition, which focused on cervical, prostate, and breast cancer, demonstrating exceptional knowledge and awareness of these prevalent cancers.

Aminu's outstanding performance earned him the First Lady's Prize for Cancer Awareness. His presentation effectively debunked common myths about cancer and helped dispel widespread misconceptions in society.

 

The competition attracted participants from other prominent tertiary institutions in Kwara State. The University of Ilorin's achievement in this competition reaffirms its commitment to excellence and its students' dedication to creating positive change in their communities.
