UNIZIK's Igbo Department Honors Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Bonaventure Umeogu with Top Igbo Heritage Contribution Award

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, celebrated Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Bonaventure Umeogu with the prestigious Igbo Heritage Contribution Award, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the preservation and promotion of Igbo culture. The award ceremony took place recently, highlighting Fr. Prof. Umeogu's significant impact on the Igbo community and academic landscape.

Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Bonaventure Umeogu, a distinguished professor in the Department of Philosophy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, also serves as the Director of the Igbo Village and the Institute of African Studies. He hails from Unubi in Nnewi South Local Government Area and has been instrumental in advancing Igbo heritage through his academic and cultural endeavors.

The award acknowledges Fr. Prof. Umeogu’s dedication to the Igbo heritage, which includes his efforts in the preservation of Igbo traditions, promotion of Igbo studies, and the development of cultural initiatives at the university.
