Chibuzor Victor Obiorah, a Law student at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), has emerged victorious in the sixth edition of the ‘Fisayo Soyombo Inter-University Essay Competition. Organized by the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), University of Ibadan, the competition saw entries from students across Nigeria. Obiorah's winning essay was selected from 336 entries, highlighting his exceptional talent and dedication to essay writing.

1. Winner Announcement: Chibuzor Victor Obiorah was declared the winner after a rigorous selection process. The entries were first pruned by Damilola Ayeni, Editor of the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), before being passed on to 2023-24 Knight Wallace fellows, US journalist Joshua Sharpe, and Ukrainian journalist Luliia Mendel.

2. Runners-Up: Olanshile Ogunrinu and Oyibokure Smith, both from the University of Ibadan, were the first and second runners-up, respectively. Onwe Chukwuebuka from UNN was also a joint second runner-up.

3. Prizes: The first prize winner received a cash award of N250,000, the second prize was N150,000, and the third prize was N100,000. Additionally, all three winners were offered internship opportunities at FIJ.
