Alumni of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka have praised the developments that a past Vice-Chancellor of the institution contributed to the growth of the institution and eradicating cultism throughout the school.
This praise comes in response to a tweet where @alexonyia attributed significant developments at UNN to Professor Ositadimma Nebo, who served as Vice-Chancellor from 2004 to 2009
Alex wrote, “Prof. Nebo single-handedly transformed the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Cultism was at its peak when he came in as VC. What he did was to graduate all the extra-year students with third-class degrees and then introduced the post-UTME. That automatically raised the standard of education at UNN and flushed out cultism to its barest minimum.”

Alumni complementing his stance added that his tenure was filled with major developments that made education easier and improved the quality of education. “He abolished the Diploma as well, which was the stronghold of cultists then,” another added.
They went on to commend all his achievements, stating that he made great changes that could not be overlooked. “Yes, I can remember him very well. He was the VC when the school was full of miscreants and rough characters. He was a visionary and made great changes that set up standards beyond the level of low achievers,” another remarked.
