WAEC Assures Reliability and User-Friendliness of CBT Centres for 2024 WASSCE
To address concerns about internet connectivity, Dr. Dangut assured that the centres would not rely on external internet, minimizing the risk of failures. He further stated that there would be a fixed power supply throughout the examination, and the bandwidth for the computers in chosen centres is in optimal condition.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has affirmed the credibility and user-friendly nature of the Computer Based Test (CBT) centres accredited for the 2024 first series West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut, the Head of National Office, assured that the examination, scheduled from January 31 to February 17, will be conducted seamlessly.
This marks the first deployment of the CBT platform for such an examination, exclusively for private candidates. Dr. Dangut emphasized that the state-of-the-art CBT-accredited centres across the country have top-notch facilities, including reliable computers, standby backups, power generators, and well-trained personnel.
To address concerns about internet connectivity, Dr. Dangut assured that the centres would not rely on external internet, minimizing the risk of failures. He further stated that there would be a fixed power supply throughout the examination, and the bandwidth for the computers in chosen centres is in optimal condition.
In response to concerns about candidates in some regions lacking computer literacy, Dr. Dangut assured that the process is easy and would not negatively impact candidates' performance. The council will conduct mass sensitization through various media channels, including a Mock CBT for the WASSCE, to familiarize candidates with the CBT experience.
Dr. Dangut highlighted the user-friendly nature of the system, allowing candidates to choose between using a mouse or letters for navigation. He emphasized that the platform provides clear directions, making the operation seamless, fascinating, and enjoyable.
The WAEC boss concluded by encouraging candidates to strive for academic excellence, as education opens doors in various aspects of life.
