The NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State witnessed a stimulating intellectual exchange as the 2024 Batch "B" Stream II corps members participated in the highly anticipated inter-platoon debate and lecture series, organized under the “Mind the Gap” initiative. The event focused on the theme of digital literacy and its impact on governance and leadership.

Mr. Chinedu Ogbonna, a representative of Mind the Gap, delivered an insightful lecture on the "Digital Economy," setting the stage for the debate. The debate topic was: “Digital Literacy in the 21st Century: An Essential Ingredient for Inclusive Governance and Effective Leadership.” Representatives from each platoon made their presentations, contributing to a highly engaging, educational, and informative session.

The debate highlighted the importance of digital literacy in modern governance and leadership, with platoons presenting well-researched arguments and innovative ideas. The event concluded with the presentation of prizes to the top-performing platoons, celebrating their outstanding contributions.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, the State Coordinator, congratulated the winners and emphasized the role of youth mentorship and capability building in national development. “The catalyst for national development and integration lies in mentoring and empowering our youth, especially those who are often neglected,” she noted. She praised all platoons for their enthusiastic participation and commended the winners for their excellent performances.
