The NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State was abuzz with celebration as the 2024 Batch "B" Stream II sports competitions came to a thrilling conclusion. The State Coordinator, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, extended her congratulations to the winners of the inter-platoon football and volleyball tournaments, marking the end of the sports events with a formal closing ceremony.

Mrs. Charity commended all platoons for their enthusiastic participation in both the football and volleyball competitions. She praised the corps members for their sportsmanship and adherence to injury-free play throughout the tournaments. “The essence of these sporting activities is to foster teamwork and encourage sportsmanship among the corps members,” she stated.

Highlighting the significance of these competitions, Mrs. Charity announced that exceptional players from the football and volleyball matches would have the opportunity to join the NYSC Bayelsa State teams. This initiative aims to further engage talented corps members and provide them with avenues to excel in their sports.

In a goodwill message, Hon. Alfred Kemepade, the Commissioner of Sports, congratulated the players for their exciting performances. He generously awarded a total of #200,000 in cash prizes to the winners of both the football and volleyball competitions and expressed his commitment to attending future NYSC sporting events.

The ceremony featured the presentation of trophies and cash prizes to the top-performing platoons. The results of the competitions were as follows:

Football:

  • 1st Position: Platoon 10
  • 2nd Position: Platoon 2
  • 3rd Position: Platoon 6

Volleyball:

  • 1st Position: Platoon 5
  • 2nd Position: Platoon 4
  • 3rd Position: Platoon 3

The successful conclusion of the sports competitions was a highlight of the orientation course, celebrating both the athletic skills and the spirit of unity among the corps members.
