YABATECH Secures N26bn Donation for Legacy Projects
Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has secured a substantial donation of N26 billion for legacy projects, including infrastructure development and research grants.
The Rector of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Dr. Abdul Ibraheem, has announced that the institution has received donations totaling N26 billion for various legacy projects. These donations include a 150-acre landed property at Snake Island for a Green Campus initiative by Chief Rasheed Babatunde Fanimokun and a hostel building at the Epe campus donated by Lady Christine Doja Otedola.
Additionally, the college has secured significant funding for infrastructure development, including a N3.5 billion building complex at its Yaba campus to be named the 'Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre' in honor of late Chief Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo, and N1.93 billion in research grants (local and international).
Dr. Ibraheem highlighted these achievements during an account of his stewardship in the past year. He emphasized the institution's commitment to enhancing infrastructure and resources, stating that these initiatives are aimed at transforming the college.

Under his leadership, YABATECH has embarked on the ERECT agenda (Empowering, Repackaging, Exploring, Consolidating, and Tapping into resources) to drive innovation and sustainable growth. The administration has prioritized staff welfare by implementing measures such as special awards for excellent performance, staff capacity building, income-generating opportunities, improved housing schemes, and prompt promotion exercises.
Furthermore, the college has entered into strategic partnerships to provide opportunities for student scholarships and training. Notably, 25 students from the School of Engineering have been awarded full scholarships to study Automobile and Automation Technology in China through collaboration with Choice International Group on SILK Road College.
Dr. Stella Mofunanya, Rector of Redeemers College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), emphasized the importance of leadership and service in her lecture titled 'Leadership and Service: Need for Creativity, Innovation, and Excellence.' She highlighted the characteristics of a good leader, emphasizing creativity, innovation, and goal orientation.
YABATECH remains dedicated to its goal of producing employable, field-ready, and future-relevant graduates under Dr. Ibraheem's leadership.
