Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) recently held a ceremony to inaugurate the new executive, legislative, and judiciary bodies of its Student Union for the 2023/2024 academic session. The event, hosted at the Yusuf Grillo Auditorium, marked a significant moment for both the institution and its student body as they welcomed a fresh era of leadership and service.

Addressing the gathering, Arc. Lawal, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, emphasized the importance of critical thinking and responsible action among students. He urged the newly elected officials to foster inclusivity and unity within the union while maintaining a spirit of camaraderie with their fellow students.

Alhaji Alaba Olalekan, the Dean of Students Affairs, commended the outgoing student leaders for their dedication and cooperation throughout their tenure. He expressed confidence in the abilities of the newly elected executives to lead with integrity and commitment, citing their impressive track record and credentials.

Legal officers from the college legal department administered the oath of office to the newly elected officials, symbolizing their commitment to uphold the principles of the college and the Student Union body constitution.

In his inaugural address, newly elected President Comrade Morakinyo Olaolu Sola stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the union's objectives. He outlined ambitious plans, including the launch of a student union website for improved communication, the provision of campus Wi-Fi facilities, and the establishment of a "SUG Garden" to honor past leaders.

Dr. Engr Ibraheem Abdul, Rector of Yabatech, expressed pride in the institution's students and pledged his unwavering support for their endeavors. He highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing academic excellence and global relevance, including partnerships with international organizations and opportunities for student exchange programs.

Dr. Abdul underscored the importance of leadership with integrity and urged the newly elected executives to prioritize student welfare above all else. He emphasized their role as ambassadors of the college and called upon them to demonstrate resilience and responsibility in their duties.
