The annual Campus Journalism Awards, CJA, has announced successful finalists for the 2022 edition of the awards, 11 Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto UDUS Students Journalists were Shortlisted.myschoolnews reporting.

Youth Digest, the thorganizersrs of the annual Campus Journalism Awards, CJA, has announced successful finalists for the 2022 edition of the awards.

Campus journalists from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto dominated the list with a nomination or two across almost all the twelve categories of the award.

The categories of the awards are; News Reporter, Gender Equality, Features Writer, Investigative Reporter,    Editor, Broadcast, Sports, Entertainment, Upcoming Writer, Campus Magazine, Author, and Pen Club.

Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto has eleven of its student-journalists as finalists who appeared in all the aforementioned categories with their selected publications except in the Features Writer category, Broadcast category, Campus Magazine category, and the Pen Club category.

The student-journalists from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto on the final list of the awards are, Hamid Fatimah Omotayo, Shereefdeen Ahmad, Abdulrasheed Hammad, Mudathir Hayatullahi Folorunso , Amanatullahi Ismail, Abdulwaheed Sofiullahi, Abdulwasiu Olokooba, and Promise Eze, 

Others are Abdulganiyu Abdulrahman Akanbi, Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed, and, Oyeleye Mahmoodah Temitope.

The 2022 edition of the CJA awards which started in 2018 received a total of 336 entries from over 50 institutions in the country bringing the total figure of entries received across the country so far to about 1,500 entries, according to the organizers. 

In a statement on Thursday, 18th November 2022, the Chairman of the screening committee Youth Digest, Campus journalism award, Olanrewaju Oyedeji, said:  

"We unveiled 15 categories while calling for the nominations but 12 categories made it to the finals and only the top two finalists in each category would be invited via email to Abuja for the awards."
