In an inspiring tale of perseverance, 28-year-old Nkazimulo Khumalo, who worked tirelessly as a taxi driver to fund his education, has successfully graduated with a degree in Education from the University of South Africa.
Khumalo, operating as a taxi driver between Sunninghill and Ivory Park in Midrand, Johannesburg, fulfilled his long-standing dream of obtaining a degree and becoming a teacher. Despite the challenges of juggling work and studies, he utilized his earnings to cover tuition fees, remaining focused on his academic goals.

"I enrolled at Unisa in 2015 and had to take care of my siblings as well. I would dedicate three hours a day to study during breaks," shared Khumalo, emphasizing his unwavering dedication.
Being the breadwinner of his family, Khumalo joined the taxi industry at a young age, enduring criticism from passengers. However, he maintained his positive mindset, refusing to be discouraged by adversities.

Upon graduation, Khumalo secured a teaching position at Ebony Primary School, Tembisa, South Africa, realizing his aspiration to become an educator. Reflecting on his journey, he expressed gratitude to a creative arts teacher who inspired him during high school, instilling the belief that "nothing is impossible with a positive mindset."
The Ivory Park Taxi Association (Ipta), where Khumalo is an active member, recognized his achievement by refunding his tuition fees. Khumalo aims to share his story as a source of motivation for African children, encouraging them to pursue their dreams despite challenges.
