Alena Maze, a 35-year-old mother of seven, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first black woman in the world to earn a Doctorate degree in Survey Methodology.

Alena, a renowned YouTuber, successfully completed her Ph.D. in Survey Methodology, making her the sole Black individual globally to hold such a prestigious degree. Her inspiration to pursue a career in survey statistics stemmed from her passion for mathematics and health, with a goal to enhance inclusivity in surveys.

Having obtained her bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics from Bowie State University, United States, Alena embarked on her academic journey at the age of 19 and graduated at 22, while simultaneously raising her first two children.

Continuing her educational pursuit, she earned a master's degree in Applied Mathematics from George Town University. Subsequently, Alena pursued her Ph.D. in Survey Methodology and Statistics at the University of Maryland, College Park.
