Kogi State Government Allocates N115 Million for UTME Fees
The state government aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and ensure that every Kogi student has equal access to education.
In a move to further promote education accessibility, the Kogi State Government has allocated N115,000,000 to cover the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees for 15,033 students in public schools across the state. Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Wemmy Jones, confirmed the release of funds, emphasizing Governor Yahaya Bello's commitment to providing free education for all Kogi children.
The initiative follows a previous payment of approximately N497 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to ensure that no student in Kogi public schools incurs any fees for internal or external examinations. The state government aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and ensure that every Kogi student has equal access to education.

Adekunle Sulaimon, a fellow of Data and Solutions Journalism, reported this development in a briefing with journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday. The state government, under Governor Yahaya Bello's leadership, continues to prioritize education by enhancing infrastructure, employing qualified teachers, and promoting free education across the state. Parents have expressed gratitude for the governor's efforts in transforming and investing in the education sector.
