44 KWASU Undergraduates Receive Research Grants

Kwara State University (KWASU) has awarded research grants worth ₦100,000 each to 44 undergraduate students drawn from 10 faculties to support the execution of their research projects.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, who disclosed this during the 15th Undergraduate Research Grant Award Ceremony held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 explained that the grant was aimed at stimulating and strengthening research culture among undergraduate students of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor added the University was deliberately initiating and continuing various programmes that would shape its students to become solution providers. “The funds given to the undergraduate researchers are not just financial support but an investment in ideas and the future. KWASU will continue to push for research that is relevant and impactful,” he stated.

Earlier, the Director of the Centre for Research and Development, Prof Abdulkabir Hussain Solihu revealed that 224 research proposals were submitted by students across the faculties, out of which 44 outstanding proposals emerged successful after a rigorous selection process.
