ABSU Governing Council Mourns Death of Former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. G. I. N. Emezue

The Governing Council of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), on behalf of the Management, Senate, Staff and Students of the University, has expressed profound sadness over the death of its eminent scholar, astute administrator and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Godwin I. N. Emezue.

Professor Emezue was a distinguished Professor of English and an intellectual icon who dedicated decades of his life to scholarship, moral instruction and the institutional growth of Abia State University.

During his tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and through various other leadership responsibilities, including his service as a former Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Abia State University Branch (ASUU-ABSU), as well as his roles in heading key University committees, Professor Emezue demonstrated uncommon diligence, administrative brilliance and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student welfare.

The Governing Council described his death as a monumental loss not only to the Emezue family and the Umuopara community but also to the wider ABSU academic family and the Nigerian university system.

According to the Council, his passing has created a vast and painful vacuum that will be deeply felt across the University community and beyond.

The Governing Council commiserated with the bereaved family, friends, associates and the entire University community over the irreparable loss.

The Council prayed that the Almighty God would grant Professor Emezue’s soul eternal rest and give the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the weight of his passing.
