ABU Faculty of Life Sciences Holds Orientation for Fresh Students
The Faculty of Life Sciences at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, held an orientation program for newly admitted students of the 2024/2025 academic session.

The Faculty of Life Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has organized an orientation program for newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session. The event aimed to familiarize the students with academic systems, regulations, and support structures available to them within the university.
In her welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof. Maryam Aminu, FSAN, congratulated the fresh students on securing admission and encouraged them to view their academic journey as an opportunity for discovery, growth, and excellence. She emphasized the vast opportunities available in life sciences, including research, healthcare, biotechnology, and environmental sustainability.
Prof. Aminu advised the students to approach their studies with determination, seek knowledge beyond the classroom, engage in research, and take advantage of mentorship from faculty members. She also urged them to cultivate the virtues of hard work, discipline, and perseverance.
Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, urged them to consider themselves fortunate to be admitted into the institution. Represented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Sahalu B. Junaidu, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged the students to maintain a high standard of dressing and remain focused on their studies to ensure timely graduation.
Other key speakers at the event included the Director of University Health Services, Prof. M.D. Maigatari, and the Director of the Counselling and Human Development Centre, Dr. S.M. Makarfi. Their presentations highlighted the various support services available to students and the importance of maintaining a healthy academic and personal life balance.
