ABU Zaria Celebrates 62nd Anniversary

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has marked its 62nd anniversary, highlighting its remarkable transformation since its inception on October 4, 1962.

Established as the University of Northern Nigeria, ABU was later renamed in honor of Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first premier of Northern Nigeria.

From humble beginnings with four faculties, 15 departments, and 426 students, ABU has grown to become a premier institution, boasting:

- 50,000+ student population

- 2,900+ academic staff, including 500+ professors

- 17 faculties, 3 colleges of agriculture, 6 specialized centers, and 16 research institutes

- 106 departments offering various undergraduate, postgraduate, and certificate programs

- World-class distance learning center, printing press, library facilities, and internet services

- Extensive infrastructure, including a mini refinery, hotels, guest houses, staff schools, and university dam

With over 500,000 alumni and a strong international presence, ABU remains a beacon of academic excellence.
