UNILAG to Host 5th Annual Forensic Conference with Focus on Advancing Forensic Science in Developing Nations
UNILAG, in partnership with the Society for Forensic and Analytical Scientists Nigeria (SFASN) and the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, UNILAG, is set to host the 5th Annual Forensic Conference from Tuesday, December 3 to Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
University of Lagos (UNILAG), in partnership with the Society for Forensic and Analytical Scientists Nigeria (SFASN) and the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, UNILAG, is set to host the 5th Annual Forensic Conference from Tuesday, December 3 to Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The conference, themed “Advancing & Strengthening Forensic Science in Developing Nations: Role of Academia and Practitioners,” will take place at the Faculty of Science Boardroom, UNILAG, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
The event will feature prominent speakers from various sectors of forensic science. The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. John Oladapo Obafunwa, Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), while other plenary sessions will be led by distinguished experts, including Prof. A. Atsenuwa, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development Services) of UNILAG; Dr. Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State DNA Forensic Centre; Dr. Moutanou Zeye, Forensic Geneticist from Uppsala University, Sweden; and Dr. B. Sawyerr, an IBM-Certified Artificial Intelligence Expert at UNILAG.
The conference offers both physical and virtual attendance options, with fees set at ₦50,000 for non-members attending physically, and ₦15,000 for virtual participants. Members enjoy a discounted rate of ₦35,000 for physical attendance and ₦10,000 for virtual participation.
