ADUN Professor Honoured with Fellowship of African Institute of Public Health Professionals

Professor Chinwe Christy Isitua, a distinguished academic at Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), has been conferred a prestigious Fellowship of the African Institute of Public Health Professionals (AIPHP). The honour was bestowed during the Institute’s Annual Fellowship Induction Ceremony held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Aldgate Congress Hotel, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The Meritorious Fellowship Award recognizes her dedication, competence, and selfless contributions to public health, healthcare development, and the safety of mankind in Africa.

Professor Isitua currently serves as Professor of Microbiology and Director of Research, Innovation and Linkages at ADUN. Renowned for her interdisciplinary expertise, her work spans Microbiology, Biotechnology, Public Health, Environmental Management, Forensic Science, Toxicology, and African Medicinal Plant Research. Her research has particularly explored biomedical and industrial applications of Moringa oleifera, functional foods, and microbial technologies, resulting in numerous publications in reputable international journals.

She holds a Ph.D. in Food and Industrial Microbiology and M.Sc. in Environmental and Public Health Microbiology from the University of Benin, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and professional certificates from the University of Washington, USA, in Project Management in Global Health, Epidemiology for Global Health, Clinical Management of HIV/AIDS, and Leadership and Management in Global Health.

Professor Isitua is also a stakeholder and member of the National Mirror Committee of the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) on African Traditional Medicine and an expert within a working group of the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO), contributing to the harmonization and standardization of African Traditional Medicine to strengthen resilient health systems and advance Universal Health Coverage in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3.
