AE-FUNAI to Expand Partnership With Swedish University

The Vice Chancellor of Alex- Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu- Alike, Ebonyi State Professor Sunday Elom, has vowed to sustain and expand the partnership between the university and the University of Gavle, Sweden.

Myschoolnews reports the Vice-Chancellor stated this recently when he hosted a representative of the Scandinavian University, Prof. Chrisantus Biamba in his office.

He said that AE-FUNAI would work together with the University of Gavle to ensure that the staff and students’ exchange programme and other components of the collaboration were sustained and expanded to accommodate more staff and students.

While speaking earlier, the Acting Dean, Faculty of Education, Dr. Ntasiobi Igu, appreciated Prof. Biamba for facilitating the partnership through the help of the European Union.

She further stated that the programme has helped in developing the capacity of University by exposing some of its staff and students to international best practices.

On his part, Prof. Biamba thanked the Vice-Chancellor for pledging to sustain and expand the scope of the collaboration, noting that he was ready to work with the University to make it a reality.

He further revealed that the staff and students of the University who had earlier benefitted from the partnership were worthy ambassadors of the university as they performed creditably well when they visited Sweden.

He added that nine students and 14 staff of the University had visited Sweden under the partnership in the past two years, where they were exposed to modern teaching techniques even as they also had the opportunity to learn new culture.

He equally hinted that the scope of the programme would be expanded to incorporate staff and students from Social Sciences and Humanities, and not just the Faculty of Education as it is presently constituted.

The highpoint of the visit was the announcement of the Director, Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Chinyere Elom as the new Coordinator of the programme, to be supported by Dr. Francisca Ogba.
