The Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AEFUTHA) in Ebonyi State has received official accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) for its College of Nursing Sciences to offer specialized training in Post-Basic Nursing for Nephrology, Intensive Care, and Accident and Emergency.

The announcement was made during the 17th Annual Nephrology Nurses Conference held at the National Hospital in Abuja, where Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, Secretary General/Registrar of NMCN, revealed that AEFUTHA is now among a select few institutions in Nigeria to provide such advanced training.

This significant accreditation aligns with Section 14 of the Act 143, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (2004), marking a major step forward for nursing education in the Southeast and supporting the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate's efforts to enhance specialized healthcare services nationwide.
