Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has organized a two-day workshop to train academics on research grant writing and publication visibility. The event, hosted by the Directorate of Research and Innovation, began on December 4, 2024, at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.  

Speaking at the workshop, the Centre Leader of the Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB), Prof. Y.K.E. Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of research grants in boosting university rankings. His presentation, Hallmarks of Securing and Managing Grants, outlined three key phases: pre-award, post-award, and closeout. He emphasized that grant writing requires specialized skills and external funding to complement government resources.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, at the event, the Director of Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Bello Muktar, stated that the training would equip academics with essential research skills and strategies to improve grant acquisition.

The workshop, which drew participation from across the university, underscores ABU’s commitment to advancing academic excellence through research and innovation.
