Ahmadu Bello University Hosts 42nd Horticultural Society Conference on Agriculture and Innovation

The 42nd annual conference of the Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORTSON) began at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, focusing on research, innovation, and extension to strengthen horticulture for sustainable food production. The event is taking place at the Division of Agricultural Colleges.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Prof. Raymond Bako, highlighted ABU’s agricultural heritage and urged participants to propose solutions for Nigeria’s agricultural issues.
Director of the Division, Prof. Bashir A. Babaji, expressed the honor of hosting the conference, noting the critical role of horticulture in addressing food security amid climate and economic challenges.
HORTSON President Prof. Rotimi Ipinmiroti praised ABU’s contributions to agricultural research and urged members to support the society's journal and increase their scholarly contributions.
The event included the conferment of HORTSON fellowship awards to the Vice-Chancellor and distinguished members, with ABU officials and the representative of the Emir of Zazzau in attendance.
