In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves across Anambra State, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Master Henry Okonkwo, a pupil of Landmark International School, Mgbakwu. The eight-year-old boy tragically passed away after allegedly being beaten into a coma by a teacher at the school.

The distressing event, which occurred in Awka North Local Government Area, has sparked outrage and calls for justice from various quarters. According to reports from myschoolnews, the teacher involved, identified as Faith Nwoye, was promptly apprehended following the incident, which took place on Monday, May 20, 2024.

Commissioner Chuma-Udeh had summoned both the accused teacher and the proprietor of the school, Mrs. Promise Ilo, for questioning regarding the appalling incident. She underscored the heinous nature of the crime, warning that those responsible would face severe consequences.

Meanwhile, young Henry Okonkwo fought for his life in the intensive care unit, but tragically succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Wednesday, May 23, 2024.
