Governor Hyacinth Alia has initiated a ₦1.6 billion water project at Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), alongside plans to transform the hospital into a medical tourism hub.

In a major stride to improve healthcare infrastructure, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has launched a ₦1.6 billion water project at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi. The project is designed to produce 100,000 liters of water daily, addressing the hospital's longstanding water supply issues.

Dr. Stephen Hwande, the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in Makurdi. He revealed additional projects, including the construction of a center for drug-related and consumable supplies, aimed at enhancing the hospital’s services.

Hospital Developments

Dr. Hwande outlined ongoing improvements to the hospital’s structures and facilities, alongside a plan to position BSUTH as a medical tourism center in North Central Nigeria. Notably, 30 staff members are undergoing training in oncology and related fields to boost the hospital’s capacity.

Post Basic Nursing Admission

The CMD also announced that BSUTH has commenced the sale of admission forms for its newly approved Post Basic Nursing Programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Mental and Psychiatric Nursing (18 months)

Nephrology Nursing (12 months)

Ophthalmic Nursing (12 months)

Eligibility Requirements:

Registered Nurse (RN) certificate with a valid practicing license.

Five O'Level credits, including English, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.

Minimum of one year of post-qualification experience.

Forms are obtainable at the CMD’s Conference Room, BSUTH Campus, for ₦35,000. The deadline for submission is December 27, 2024.
