BSUTH to Commence Post Basic Nursing Programmes
The Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, has received approval to begin Post Basic Nursing programmes in three specialties.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande, has announced the commencement of Post Basic Nursing programmes in three specialties:
Mental Health & Psychiatric Nursing (18 months)
Nephrology Nursing (12 months)
Ophthalmic Nursing (12 months)

Eligibility Requirements:
Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license.
Five O'Level credits, including English, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
At least one year of post-qualification experience.
Hospital Achievements and Projects
Dr. Hwande highlighted the hospital's efforts to develop human capacity, with 30 staff members undergoing oncology and other specialized training. With the new programmes, BSUTH now offers eight specialized nursing courses.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for supporting ongoing projects, including:
A 230-cubic-meter water project.
Construction of a VIP Clinic.
Intervention in drugs and hospital consumables.
These initiatives aim to transform BSUTH into a medical tourism hub in North Central Nigeria.
