Anchor University Reiterates Zero Tolerance for Indecent Behavior

Anchor University, Lagos, has reaffirmed its strict stance against indecent behavior, emphasizing that the institution will not tolerate or cover up any form of misconduct within its campus. This was made clear by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Bandele, following an allegation raised by a student, Evangel Ganiyu, regarding an attempted sexual assault by an artisan working in the female hostel.

The incident, which allegedly occurred while the student was asleep, has sparked reactions online, prompting the university's management to address the situation. Prof. Bandele clarified that the suspect, now in police custody at Ayobo Police Station, is not an employee of the institution but an artisan contracted by an external party for renovation work on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor dismissed rumors that the university might attempt to cover up the incident, emphasizing the institution's commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining discipline. "Anchor University operates on the foundation of holiness and adherence to the law, and we will never compromise these standards," Prof. Bandele asserted.

He further encouraged any student who has experienced similar issues to report them for proper investigation, ensuring that the university handles each case diligently. Prof. Bandele highlighted the university's commitment to student welfare, stating that measures such as random drug tests and mandatory pregnancy tests for female students are part of the school's efforts to maintain discipline and responsibility within its community.

The Female Hall Supervisor, Mrs. Grace Abodunde, confirmed that this was the first time Evangel had reported such an incident and emphasized that the university management responded promptly and appropriately.
