Bayero University Kano Appoints Dr. Umma Abdullahi as First Female Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Northern Nigeria

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has announced the promotion of Dr. Umma Abdullahi to the rank of Professor of Mechanical Engineering, effective October 1, 2023. This appointment was approved by the university's Academic and Promotion Committee (A&PC) on December 27, 2024.

Dr. Abdullahi's achievement marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the first female professor of Mechanical Engineering in Northern Nigeria and the third in the country.

Prior to joining BUK, Dr. Abdullahi had a distinguished academic career at Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil (2007-2017), and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2017-2022). Her expertise and contributions to the field of Mechanical Engineering have earned her this prestigious recognition.
