As FULafia celebrates end of year, The Vice Chancellor salutes staff

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has lauded the commitment and contributions of the staff of the University, describing the year 2023 as a hugely successful one for the institution.

The vice-chancellor made the commendation during the annual get-together event of the University held at the Mallam  Adamu Adamu  Lecture and Office Complex, Permanent Site Campus of the University, in Lafia.

Speaking, Abdul Rahman said that the event was organised to celebrate the individual and collective achievements of staff, saying that celebrating success “is an important aspect of this administration.”

 He thanked the staff for their support and commitment to his administration, urging them to continue to support him.

He stated that the get-together was organised to foster the spirit of love, unity and togetherness among staff.

Abdul Rahman used the occasion to call on staff to forgive those who wronged them during the year so that God would also forgive them, stressing that "forgiveness enables us to free ourselves from anger and hatred.”

Welcoming staff to the event, the chairman of the get-together committee, Dr. Amos Ambo, thanked the vice-chancellor for enabling the successful hosting of the event.

He also appreciated members of his committee for their support and commitment throughout the planning period of the event.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships, Prof. Samaila Dakyes, Dean of Deans, Prof. Josephine Odey, and the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), National Association of Academic Technologists, (NAAT), Senior Staff Association Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Students Representatives Council (SRC) poured encomiums on Abdul Rahman for providing an enabling environment for staff of the University to meet and have fun, saying that the gesture would motivate staff to give more to the system.

They promised to continue to cooperate with the Shehu Abdul Rahman-led administration to achieve its dream of making FULafia the fifth best university in Africa.

The Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, in his vote of thanks, appreciated the vice-chancellor for initiating and sustaining the yearly get-together, urging the staff to rededicate themselves to the service of the University so that celebration would become a culture in the University. 

 

The two-day event which commenced with different sporting competitions between staff and students of the University, also witnessed the presentation of certificates to some members of staff who have distinguished themselves during the year.

The vice-chancellor also used the occasion to donate a cow to the Christian staff of the University to celebrate the upcoming Christmas.

Highlights of the event included entertainments by the Nasarawa State Cultural Troupe, Migili Cultural Troupe,

Department of Theatre and Media Arts and Presentation Award of Excellent Leadership by the Igbo Staff of FULafia to Abdul Rahman.
