ASUU Laments Federal Universities' Council Dissolution

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has once again expressed its concerns over the dissolution of the Governing Councils of Federal Universities by President Bola Tinubu.
ASUU’s President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, stated that federal universities are operating unlawfully without their respective Councils He made this statement in Abuja on Tuesday, while giving a goodwill message during a sensitisation workshop for Heads of Beneficiary Institutions on Career Service Centres, Teaching Practice, Beneficiary Identity Management Service (BIMS) and Hostel Development, organized by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

Osodeke also urged TETFund to consider sanctions for universities that are not making use of the Fund’s projects. He stressed the importance of a thorough evaluation of how the funds are being used. He stated, “No university in the entire world should be allowed to operate for a full year without governing councils, which are tasked with managing the funds of such a University.”
