Five executive council members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Lagos State University (LASU) are demanding their reinstatement and compensation following their dismissal over alleged frivolous charges by the school governing council.

Dr. Isaac Akinloye Oyewumi (chairman), Dr. Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu (vice chairman), Dr. Anthony Dansu (secretary), Dr. Adeolu Oluwaseyi Oyekan (assistant secretary), and Dr. Oluwakemi Adebisi Aboderin-Shonibare (treasurer) were dismissed between September 2017 and September 2019 during the tenure of former LASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Lanre Fagbohun.

In a letter addressed to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State government, the dismissed officials accused the administration of undue delay and foul play in addressing their reinstatement. The letter, titled "STILL ON THE INJUSTICE MELTED ON DR TONY DANSU AND FOUR OTHER ASUU-LASU OFFICIALS," highlighted inconsistencies in the treatment of other university personnel and called for an end to the prolonged dispute.

According to the letter signed by high-Chief Sewude Adeyinka Amosu, the Nukongan (Asiwaju) of Ajido of Badagry, the issue has lingered unresolved for five to seven years, despite efforts for reconciliation. The dismissed officials expressed frustration over the delay in implementing the decision to reinstate them, which was approved by the new University Governing Council in February 2023.

The letter raised concerns about the selective treatment of university personnel, pointing out instances where individuals implicated in similar issues were recalled or reabsorbed without adherence to due process. The dismissed officials emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in resolving the matter, urging the Lagos State Government and LASU authorities to expedite the reinstatement process.
