Babcock University Celebrates Motunrayo Orelaje, Best Graduating Student in Hematology and First Class Graduate
Meet Motunrayo Orelaje, who graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science with First Class Honours from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Nigeria.
To cap her achievements, she also emerged as Best Graduating Student, Hematology Unit for the 2026 academic session.
Motunrayo began her academic journey in 2020 at Olabisi Onabanjo University. The ASUU strike during her 200 level disrupted her plans, and in 2022 she transferred to Babcock University. What initially felt like a setback became a redirection.
Starting over came with challenges — a new environment, new people, new routines, and the pressure of finding her footing again. In that process, she learned that a journey does not have to be perfect for its destination to be beautiful.
Beyond academics, Motunrayo was also building and running her own fashion brand. While attending lectures, practicals, tests and examinations, she juggled orders, customers and fabrics. Balancing academics and entrepreneurship taught her discipline, resilience, time management, and the value of showing up even when it felt overwhelming.

Today, she says her achievements represent more than titles. They reflect late nights, sacrifices, prayers, unexpected turns, and the support of everyone who stood by her along the way.
Join us in celebrating Motunrayo Orelaje, a trailblazer whose story is one of resilience, hard work and purpose.
