Bayero University, Kano Students’ Union Announces Caretaker Committee to Manage Student Affairs
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has inaugurated a Caretaker Committee (CTC) to oversee student affairs following the expiration of the tenure of the previous Executive Council and Student Representative Assembly (SRA).

In a statement dated December 21, 2025, the SUG noted that the formation of the committee is aimed at preventing a leadership vacuum and ensuring continuous advocacy for students’ interests across the university.
The committee is chaired by Senator Ibrahim Mustapha Giwa of the Faculty of Life Sciences, with Sen. Kasheem Adavise Suleiman from Clinical Sciences appointed as Vice Chairman. Sen. Bigira Simon Terkaa of Social Sciences will serve as Secretary General.

Other key members include Sen. Yahaya Lawan Muhammad (Rimin Kebe) as Public Relations Officer, Sen. Abubakar Garba Labaran as Financial Secretary, and Sen. Muhammad Sani Rabiu as Treasurer. The committee also features directors responsible for welfare, social activities, sports, sales, and food and environmental matters, alongside representatives from faculties including Engineering, Law, Education, Computing, and Arts and Islamic Studies.
The SUG emphasized that the Caretaker Committee will safeguard students’ rights, ensure effective representation, and maintain continuity of student governance during the interim period.
This move underscores BUK SUG’s commitment to stable and functional student leadership, even in transitional periods.
