Bayero University Kano to Install 10MW Solar Power Plant

Bayero University Kano (BUK) is set to install a 10MW solar power plant in collaboration with Tetracore Energy Ventures and Bakmin Ventures. The project aims to provide a sustainable and uninterrupted power supply to the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, disclosed that the university is considering two financing models: Build, Own, Operate (BOO) and Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT). The BOO model appears more viable, with a proposed tariff of ₦164.93 per kWh.

The solar project is expected to address the university's power supply challenges and promote a stable academic environment. The university's technical team has been directed to finalize the agreement and conduct a thorough analysis for submission to the University Council.
