Baze Varsity Lecturer Dr. Abubakar Alkali Detained by DSS for Over Three Weeks, Claims Adeyanju

Dr. Abubakar Alkali, a Senior Lecturer at Baze University, has been detained by the Department of State Security (DSS) for over three weeks, according to allegations by lawyer Deji Adeyanju. Alkali was reportedly abducted in Sokoto State for his support of the #EndBadGovernance protests.

 Dr. Abubakar Alkali, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at Baze University, has been detained by the Department of State Security (DSS) for over three weeks, according to allegations made by Mr. Deji Adeyanju. Adeyanju, one of the lawyers representing the #EndBadGovernance protesters, claims that Alkali was abducted by the DSS in Sokoto State for allegedly supporting the recent protests.

Adeyanju raised the alarm over Alkali’s prolonged detention, highlighting the lecturer's continued custody as a matter of concern. He criticized the DSS's actions and underscored that the detention of peaceful protesters is unconstitutional.

Earlier, Adeyanju reported that while 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters had been granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja, 115 others remain imprisoned in Kuje, with over 1,000 protesters across Nigeria still awaiting bail. Adeyanju has called for the immediate and unconditional release of all detained protesters.
