Bells University to Graduate 929 Students at 16th Convocation, Honors Two Best Graduates

The Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, is set to hold its 16th Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The university will confer First Degrees on 929 students, alongside 219 postgraduate degrees and diplomas.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran announced that of the 929 First Degree graduates, 592 completed regular programs, while 377 completed Direct Entry (Top Up) programs across the university’s colleges: COLNAS, COLMANS, COLENVS, COLENG, and COLFAST. Among the graduates, 91 earned First Class honors, with Second Class Upper degrees awarded to 505 students, Second Class Lower to 313, and 60 graduates placed in the Third Class category.

Highlighting the achievements of the graduating class, Prof. Ojediran revealed that two students, Sally Farouk from the Department of Architecture and Leo Nkemaka from the Department of Computer Science, emerged as joint top graduates with an impressive cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.94. Farouk has been selected to deliver the valedictory speech at the ceremony, which will take place at the BUPF International Conference Centre on campus.

The postgraduate awards include 11 doctoral degrees, 163 master’s degrees, and 45 postgraduate diplomas. In addition, Emeritus Professor Peter Adesola Okebukola, President of the Global University for Innovation (GUNi-Africa), will deliver the convocation lecture on Friday, November 1, 2024, under the theme: “Leveraging Science and Technology for Boosting the Economy, Youth Employment, and National Security.”

In recognition of their contributions to education and business, Bells University will bestow Honorary Doctorates on Emeritus Prof. Okebukola and Architect Temitope Shonubi, CEO of Sahara Group of Companies.

Reflecting on the institution’s mission, Prof. Ojediran praised the "World Changer" impact of Bells University graduates, attributing their successes to the visionary leadership of the institution’s founder and Visitor, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the university's management, faculty, and students, which he said have garnered the institution numerous accolades and fostered an environment of academic excellence.
