BIRS Chairman Kwaghgba Visits MOAUM Vice-Chancellor; Advocates for Strategic Institutional Synergy
The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr. Joseph Kwaghgba, FCNA, ACTI, ACCrFA, MNIM, KSM, has paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), Prof. Alabar. Mr. Kwaghgba, who was accompanied by members of the BIRS management team, said the visit was to formally congratulate Prof. Alabar and his management on their appointments and to wish them success as they steer the affairs of the institution.
The BIRS Chairman expressed strong confidence in the capacity of the new Vice Chancellor to provide purposeful leadership, noting that Prof. Alabar’s long-standing relationship with the university from his days as a lecturer pioneer staff member in the Faculty of Management Sciences, and having served the university in various capacities has equipped him with the experience and institutional knowledge required to take the university to greater heights.
In his response, Prof. Alabar expressed appreciation for the visit, describing Mr. Kwaghgba, an alumnus of the university, as a shining example of the institution’s impact. He noted that it is a source of pride for the university to have one of its own occupying such a strategic and sensitive office in Benue State.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized the need for closer collaboration between the university and the Internal Revenue Service, stressing that as corporate institutions under the Benue State Government, there should be seamless cooperation in areas of mutual interest. He also solicited the advice and support of the BIRS Chairman on tax-related matters to ensure the university meets its statutory obligations effectively.
Other principal officers of the university, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Emmanuel E. Otor; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Priscilla M. Utoo; Provost, College of Health Sciences, Prof. Andrea A. Ornguze; the Bursar, Dr. Amos Otse; and the Registrar, Mr. Barnabas Terfa Hemba, commended the BIRS Chairman for the initiative and sincerity demonstrated during the visit, describing the engagement as timely and encouraging.
In company of the BIRS Chairman were the Board Secretary and Legal Adviser Barr. Ushahemba Dekaa, the Director Tax Assessment Mr. Titus Aondoakaa, Director Planning Research and Statistics Mr. Ezekiel Sev-Av, Director Collection and Accounting Mr. James Edoga and the Director Tax Audit and Investigation Mr. Joseph Asase.
