Bishop Onaga Commissions New Facilities at Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital
The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, has commissioned newly completed facilities at the Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital, Enugu, during a facility tour with members of the diocesan curia.

Addressing the curia members, Bishop Onaga commended the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, and the university management for their commitment, creativity, and courage in advancing the institution. He also praised the Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Frank Akpuaka, and the Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital, Prof. Dr. Amechi Katchy, urging them to sustain unity and dedication in pursuit of the hospital’s vision and objectives.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Bishop and members of the curia for their continued moral, financial, and spiritual support. He stated that Godfrey Okoye University is among the few private universities in Nigeria with a fully functional teaching hospital, describing the development as a strategic advantage for medical training, quality assurance, and professional development.
He disclosed that the Teaching Hospital is fully equipped, has a workforce comprising 25 resident doctors and 50 consultants, and houses all requisite medical departments, making it adequately prepared for accreditation.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Dr. Amechi Katchy, thanked the Bishop and curia members for commissioning the facilities and noted that the hospital offers 24-hour healthcare services, with experienced medical professionals providing continuous patient care.
