BUK Launches Investigation into Online Impersonation and Financial Misconduct Involving Student
The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has officially launched a preliminary inquiry into allegations of online misconduct involving an individual reported to be a student of the institution.
In a special bulletin released on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the university addressed circulating social media reports linking a student to acts of online impersonation and financial misconduct.
Upholding Institutional Integrity
The statement, signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, emphasized that BUK maintains rigorous standards of discipline and character. The university clarified that the personal actions of any individual student do not reflect the values of the institution as a whole.
"Any conduct capable of bringing the name and reputation of the University into disrepute is treated with the utmost seriousness," the bulletin stated. "The appropriate authorities are currently reviewing the matter in line with the institution’s established rules and disciplinary procedures."
Commending Public Philanthropy
Amidst the investigation into the alleged misconduct, the University Management took the opportunity to commend the "public-spirited efforts" of Professor Farooq Kperogi and other anonymous donors.
The statement praised these individuals for their quiet but impactful financial support, which helps deserving students cover registration fees and other essential educational expenses. BUK noted that such acts of generosity remain vital to expanding educational access.
A Call for Public Cooperation
The university has assured the public that if the allegations are substantiated, appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken in accordance with its regulations and applicable laws.
Members of the public are urged to allow the investigative process to conclude and to refrain from speculation or the circulation of unverified information that could compromise the inquiry.
