In a statement issued today, the students urged the management of Nelfund to expedite the payment of their allowances, citing the economic hardship faced by many students.

According to the statement, signed by Habu Hassan Ibn Abdillah, the students received their July upkeep allowance on August 5, but have yet to receive their August allowance, which was expected on September 5. The students expressed disappointment that no reasonable notice or explanation has been provided by the management of Nelfund for the delay.

The students emphasized that the delay has caused financial hardship for many, making it difficult for them to afford basic school needs. They reminded the management of Nelfund that the loan was provided using national resources and urged them to fulfill the terms of the contract.

The students called on the management of Nelfund to pay their upkeep allowance promptly, stressing that they do not want to receive only seven or six months' payment instead of the full duration of the contract. They stated that their protest is for the benefit of all students affected by the delay.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has yet to respond to the students' concerns.
