The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has issued a notice urging students to take personal responsibility for the security of their mobile phones and other valuables during the ongoing examination period.

In a statement dated 11th February 2026, the Welfare Director, Sen. Hamim Mahmud Ahmad (Sen. Mai Gemu), highlighted concerns about careless handling of personal items within exam halls. The notice noted that some students have been bringing phones into examination venues and leaving them unattended, increasing the risk of theft or snatching.

Students have been strongly advised to avoid bringing mobile phones or valuable items to exam halls unless absolutely necessary. In cases where bringing such items is unavoidable, students are instructed to secure their belongings safely in bags or other reliable storage.

The SUG reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and called for full cooperation from the student body, emphasizing that adherence to this advisory will help prevent unnecessary losses during examinations.
