The Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), on Wednesday 30th July, 2025 received a courtesy visit from the Centre for Gender Studies, Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
The visit was led by the Director of the Centre, Ambassador Safiya Ahmad Nuhu, accompanied by members of her team.
In her remarks, Amb. Safiya expressed profound appreciation for the warm reception and exceptional hospitality extended by KHAIRUN, describing it as both welcoming and unexpected. She provided an overview of the Centre’s vision and mission, stating that it is focused on mentorship, nurturing, and grooming women to become capable, confident, and competent leaders in all spheres of life.
The Director highlighted that the purpose of the visit was to explore avenues for collaboration and partnership with KHAIRUN. She praised the University as an exceptional model of academic and moral excellence in the state. Amb. Safiya also extended her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, for his continuous support, particularly during his tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Bayero University, Kano. She concluded her remarks with prayers and best wishes for the growth and success of KHAIRUN, expressing hope that the University will continue to provide quality leadership and education to young Nigerians.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, welcomed the visiting team and expressed his gratitude for the honour of the visit. He provided a brief overview of KHAIRUN’s development, academic programmes, and infrastructure. He also emphasized the University’s commitment to holistic education, highlighting three key compulsory courses offered to all students: Qur’anic Recitation and Memorization, Moral Lessons, and Entrepreneurship. These, he noted, are designed to instil both spiritual and practical values in students.
The meeting was marked by mutual appreciation, shared values, and a commitment to future collaboration between the two institutions.
