Cerebral Palsy Children Parents Demand Special Needs Schools in Abia

Parents and caregivers of children with cerebral palsy in Abia State have made a passionate plea to the government for the establishment of special needs schools where their children can learn and develop their potentials.

During a Parents’ Support Group program organized by The Straight Child Foundation in Umuahia, some parents, including Mrs. Emelike Ozioma, Mrs. Uche Rita, and Mrs. Florence Okorie, urged the government to collaborate with organizations like The Straight Child Foundation to establish and equip special needs schools.

The parents expressed gratitude to Dr. Peace Amaraegbulam, the founder of The Straight Child Foundation, for her humanitarian services and appealed for government assistance in creating conducive learning environments for children with special needs.

Founder of The Straight Child Foundation, Dr. Peace Amaraegbulam, reminded parents of the Abia State Disability Act and urged them to familiarize themselves with its provisions. She highlighted the Foundation's advocacy efforts and recent engagements with government officials to promote awareness and support for children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

Plans for the establishment of a gym room for children with cerebral palsy at The Straight Child Foundation in Umuahia were disclosed by Mr. Amadi Bright, TSCF Project Supervisor.Palliatives and informational materials were shared with parents and caregivers during the program.
